March 2024 Club Meeting

Diving the World’s Oldest Shipwreck

Are you ready to dive into the depths of history and unearth the secrets of a 3,600 year old shipwreck?

Joining us from Greenville, NC, Lindsay Wentzel will share her experiences excavating the Bronze Age shipwreck in Kumluca Turkey, the world’s oldest trade shipwreck. Lindsay is a marine scientist and professional diver, who has worked on projects ranging from wave energy to underwater archeology. Learn about the day-to-day life onboard a research vessel, and the lessons she has learned working in underwater environments up to 170 ft deep.
