July 2021 Club Meeting

Stony Coral Disease

Coral reefs represent some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet but these important habitats are declining worldwide. Florida’s coral reefs are experiencing the most devastating and widespread disease outbreak in its history. Emerging in 2014, stony coral tissue loss disease has spread throughout the entire Florida Reef Tract and into the Caribbean.

Join us as Dr. Greta Smith Aeby shares what is known about the disease, where it has spread, and what is being done to fight the outbreak.

We will meet at Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery, located in IX Art Park (520 2nd St SE, Charlottesville). Social hour begins at 6:00 pm and the Meeting/Program begins at 7:00 pm.

We offer remote access to the meeting as well via zoom. To join, all you need is a computer or mobile phone. It’s sure to be a night full of food, drink and fun. Hope to see you there!
