March 2018 Club Meeting

Hollywood and the media have given sharks a bad image, but these beautiful creatures are vital to the health of our oceans. Tanya Houppermans is an internationally-recognized, multiple award-winning photographer who has devoted her life to the protection and conservation of sharks.

Join us as Tanya shares how she became involved in shark conservation and underwater photography. She will address some of the issues and concerns surrounding shark diving and share what we can do as divers to help save sharks.

Tanya Houppermans left the corporate world behind in 2015 to become a full-time marine conservationist and underwater photographer. She is best known for her images depicting the beauty of sharks. Recently she won First Place in the 2017 World Shootout in the ‘Sharks’ category (an award she also won in 2015), and she was awarded First Place in the ‘Portrait’ category in the 2018 Underwater Photographer of the Year competition. Her images and articles can be seen in print and online publications around the world.

Meet new dive buddies, reconnect with old ones, and talk all things related to diving! It’s sure to be a night full of food, drink and fun. Hope to see you there!
