November 2022 Club Meeting

Diving Into Pearl Harbor

This year marks the 81st anniversary of the sinking of the USS Arizona during the Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor Hawaii – an event that plunged the US into World War II.
The USS Arizona Memorial is a place of contemplation, remembrance, and reconciliation. Making a connection to the 1177 men who perished on the ship on the morning of December 7, 1941 – and the ship itself – helps us understand the national reaction to the brutal, sudden, and mercilessness attack.
Joining us from his home in Colorado, Dave Conlin, Chief of the National Park Service Submerged Resources Center, will discuss the historical significance of the Arizona, research on the ship, and share his perspective as one of the few who have had the honor to dive on this WWII icon.

Meet your fellow SeaDevils at Kardinal Hall, located at 722 Preston Ave, Charlottesville. We will meet at 6:00 pm for dinner and drinks and the Meeting/Program begins at 7:00 pm.

We offer remote access to the meeting as well via zoom. To join, all you need is a computer or mobile phone. It’s sure to be a night full of food, drink and fun. Hope to see you there!
